A recent photo of our family taken in front of a dear friend's restored airplane.
This year our family celebrates 16 years as full-time missionaries. Most missionaries we know are required by their mission sending agency to take a one year sabbatical every 2-4 years. Since we are the founders of our mission sending agency, Shepherd's Heart, it was difficult to arrive at a place where we could require ourselves to take a sabbatical. This year, however, our family will be taking a sabbath rest. After 16 years of faithful service, it is time for us to take a break from the 24/7 demands of cross-cultural ministry and continual crisis management. We have discussed this in depth with our board of directors and our major supporters who are all in agreement with our decision.
The main purpose of our sabbatical is to rest and refresh, while reconnecting with family and friends. We will also be helping our daughters acclimate to the US culture as they prepare for college. After taking a few months of sabbath rest, we will continue serving the Lord stateside as the directors of Shepherd's Heart.
If you are in the East Tennessee region and would like for us to come visit your church, bible study, small group or family sometime during the Fall of 2018 or Spring of 2019 we will be setting our schedule over the next month. Please contact us so that we can program a visit with you.
As friends and supporters we ask that you would prayerfully consider supporting our family and ministry during this time of change. With the increase in the cost of living in the United States compared to that of Mexico as well as the addition of health insurance (which we previously did not have) our monthly expenses are projected to increase somewhere between $1500-$2000 dollars per month. While we are looking at ways to supplement our income, we know that the transition will not be easy.
We are thankful to you for all the years of prayers, financial support and encouragement that you have given to our family as we have labored to establish Shepherd's Heart and Hope House. Please continue to pray for our family and ministry during this time.
